The Evans Trophy – North v South Challenge

This is the Ryder Cup of Crown Green Bowls and will be played on Saturday 10th August, it is sponsored by Local PrintPros and hosted by Garswood Hall BC, Wigan. 

With free Admission, Hot and Cold refreshments available and an open bar all day and a fabulous raffle as well so many of the best players in the game it should be a fantastic day. Joining in with the fun is former World Snooker champion John Parrott.

The lovely chief organiser, Lynn Pritchatt stated that the stage is set and after 12 months of planning and we are ready. It should be a a Crown Green Bowling spectacle with many of the top players in action – our version of Golf’s Ryder Cup.

On behalf of the club, Nick Shaw stated the club feels very privileged to host this amazing fundraising event and it’s sure to be a fun packed day this coming Saturday. Some of the best in the business showing their skills in the North v South bowling challenge match playing for the Mel Evans Trophy and do you fancy your chances by taking on ex-World Snooker champion John Parrot on the pool table?

Also, Coronation Street actors in attendance with everybody welcome during the day when entry is free. Comedian Lea Roberts is one of the best in the business and you’re sure to have a brilliant evening with some amazing auction and raffle prizes on offer. 

Hopefully, the biggest winners on the day will be the Mel Evans MBE Foundation for MND research.

As a club secretary, association secretary, county delegate on the BCGBA (National Governing Body) Management Committee, Media Officer for the BCGBA, Merseyside champion in 2002 and Merseyside County President (2014-15) Steve has always been keen to promote the game especially through the broadcast of the game on TV or Internet. Steve set up the LIVE BOWLS YouTube channel which became the Bowls Observer channel and, through the LDBA, runs national competitions. Seeing an avenue to report on and promote the game Steve set up the Bowls Observer on-line magazine.
