Warwick and Worcester Ladies retained the Ladies County Championship with another hard fought win over Shropshire.
These two teams have played each other in each of the last four years and honours have been even. So it was in some anticipation that the teams, supporters and neutral spectators arrived at the Florence Tennis and Bowling Club in Stoke.
Both green at this famous venue were to be used so each team consisted, like any other county match, of twenty-four players.
After the first four jacks on each green the game was still even with both sides claiming one hundred and forty-six points. Shropshire’s Sonya Lucas claimed the best win.
It was in the middle jacks that Warwick and Worcester took control of the game. Michelle Chatwin, Jodie Pritchard and Karen Weaver all claimed impressive wins as the reigning champions took a thirty-four point lead into the last block.
Any chance of a Shropshire fight back were forgotten as Shannon Kernick claimed the best win of the match and on the way to a fifty-six point win.
