A busy few weeks at the new home of the Waterloo competitions, the Fleetwood Bowling Club, came to an end with the finals of the men’s and ladies spring handicaps.

After the success of the Derek and Sheila 1-day pairs, won by Ben Phillips and Kevan Shaw, attention turned to the two main early season singles competitions.

Burton’s Lisa Mills claimed the Ladies title beating Nicola Boulton 21 – 13 in the final.

The following day Paul Dudley, the reigning Autumn Waterloo Champion, won the Spring version by beating Gareth Jones 21 – 20 in the final.

By winning these events both Lisa and Paul qualify for the end of season Champion of Champions events.

After the conclusion of a busy weekend of bowls Mark Mills, Bowls Manager, issued the following statement.

“Congratulations to our two winners Lisa Mills and Paul Dudley, and commiserations to Runners Up Nicola Boulton and Gareth Jones.

Thanks you to all the players who took part in both the Men’s and Ladies events and a massive thank you to all our helpers throughout the Spring Events.

The measurers Doug Bee and Dave Hughes and Ian Gore who has marked cards at all qualifiers and Finals. I would like to thank my Wife Tracey for manning the Tea Hut and Donna and her staff at the Bar. Thanks also to Steve Dagger and Steve Sutton and Mark Sutton, and anyone else who has helped along the way.

One person I owe a massive thank you to is Heidi Sutton who has looked after the Sheet with me and also being there when my beloved Football Team were playing… Thank You Heidi! There’s still lots of bowls to come in 2023!”
