Young Lucas claims national title

Lucas Hall with Keith Andrews BCGBA Deputy President

Lucas Hall has claimed the ultimate prize in the under 18 bowling world. The 15 year old from Walsall travelled north to the Wigan Subscription Club and claimed the British National title and the biggest trophy in the game.

The event was held at this famous Lancashire venue on the 19th August and attracted the best teenage players from across the country.

Lucas proved to be too good for all of them and apart from an unbelievable comeback in the semi-final was always ahead and in control. His distinct high swinging delivery was proving to be hard to play against and Lucas defeated four county champions on his way to the title.

In the final Lucas played Jack Bushell who had been in devastating form as three county champions proved no obstacle for him. Jack was probably the form player of the day until he ran into the young man from Walsall.

The final itself was a testament to the skills of Lucas who controlled the jack length and position and made it so difficult for Jack to play to the level he had showed. Lucas used careful jack positioning to give Jack all kinds of problems controlling his bigger bowls. Good tactics on the day and helped him on the way to the national title and the biggest prize in the under 18 bowling world.

The event was streamed live by Globegig Media on behalf of the BCGBA. Please click the link below for the programme.
