Cannock’s Lynn Pritchatt claimed the £920 Cantina Per Vini Wine Cellar Ladies Singles trophy with a dominant display at the Athena Beach Hotel greens.

Lynn gave up her position in the commentary box to show why she is regarded as one of the best ladies to have played the game. That is not to say that Lynn had it all her own way as the finals day saw some excellent bowling and close games.

In the last 16 Marjorie Beaumont kept level with Lynn until a decisive break at the end of the game when Lynn settled on a corner mark. The same could be said for Diane Hunt in the last 8. Tracey Wraight had impressed everyone with how she had adapted to the greens on her first visit and she gave Lynn a hell of a game in the semi. In the  final Lynn met Wirral’s Anita Richardson who had been involved in some epic games to get to the final. Both Bev Chesters and Ann Fryer could testify to Anita’s ‘never say die’ attitude.

The final saw Lynn take control early on and she made sure Anita never had a run with the jack. Lynn had settled on a long corner mark and was just too good on it. Try as much as she could Anita just couldn’t get a run with the jack and Lynn was a worthy winner of the £250 first prize.

Game of the day though was a marathon game in the last 16 between Tracey Wraight and Ronni Lyon. Ronni had the experience on the green and swept into an early lead playing corners. Tracey was using a set of her son Callum’s bowls and they must have been trained to play a minimum length mark on an edge. Tracey inched her way level and then both ladies played extremely well to each others jack. Tracey it was who just claimed the win in a high quality marathon of a game.
